About ClockTotals
ClockTotals is an independent site of free time and date tools. It exists for the sums that are easy to get wrong by hand: a week of shifts with unpaid breaks and an overnight finish, overtime on top of a regular week, or exactly how many working days are left before a deadline.
The site covers work hours, weekly and biweekly timesheets, overtime, decimal hours, shift and rotation calendars, date differences, countdowns to holidays in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and a set of time and unit conversions. Every tool is free, needs no account, and runs in your browser. You'll find them all on the home page.
Who builds ClockTotals
ClockTotals is built and maintained by Sohail Manzoor, a software engineer and full-stack developer. The countdown and date pages all come from one date engine written for the site. Before any update goes live, an automated test suite checks it against known dates and leap years and runs it in several time zones, so a countdown doesn't drift by a day for someone on the other side of the world.
How the calculators work
The maths happens in JavaScript on your own device. Depending on the tool, that includes elapsed time across midnight, unpaid breaks, weekly totals, overtime thresholds and estimated gross pay. Results are shown both as hours and minutes and as decimal hours, because payroll systems ask for one and people think in the other. If you type a time or a break that can't be right, the tool tells you instead of quietly giving a wrong total.
What the results can and can't tell you
A calculator is only as good as what you put in and the rules it assumes. Employers round time differently, some breaks are paid and some aren't, and overtime law changes from one state or country to the next. The default settings may not match your employer's policy, so check the result before it goes on a timesheet or a payroll submission. ClockTotals gives you the arithmetic; it isn't legal, tax, employment or payroll advice.
Your data
What you type into a calculator stays in your browser and isn't sent to ClockTotals. There are no accounts. The site uses Google Analytics to see which pages people use, and visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked before it runs. The details are in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
