What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?

US federal holidays on a Saturday are observed on the Friday before, and on a Sunday the Monday after. UK bank holidays move to the next weekday.

How many federal holidays are there in the US?

There are 11. They are New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Are banks and the stock market closed on the same days?

Mostly. Federal Reserve Banks stay open on the Friday before a Saturday holiday, and the NYSE trades on Columbus Day and Veterans Day but closes on Good Friday. Each year page lists both.
