Thanksgiving is a US federal holiday built around a big family meal of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. Abraham Lincoln made it a national holiday in 1863. Congress fixed it to the fourth Thursday of November in 1941, two years after Franklin Roosevelt moved it a week earlier.
