Weekly pay gives 52 paychecks (53 in some years), biweekly 26 (27 about every 11 years), semi-monthly 24 and monthly 12. Twenty-six two-week periods take 364 days, so a year has 27 biweekly paydays only when its first payday is January 1 (January 1 or 2 in a leap year); it depends on which Friday you are paid.
