About Epiphany
Epiphany falls on January 6, the twelfth day after Christmas. In Western churches it marks the visit of the Magi, the three wise men, to the baby Jesus. Orthodox and other Eastern churches put the focus on the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan and bless water on this day. The evening before is Twelfth Night, when many people take down their Christmas decorations.
It is a public holiday in Spain, Italy, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Finland and parts of Germany, so banks and most shops close there.
