About Galentine's Day
Galentine's Day started as a joke on Parks and Recreation. In the season two episode of that name, first aired on February 11, 2010, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) gathers her female friends for breakfast on February 13 and hands out gifts. She describes it as Lilith Fair minus the angst and plus frittatas.
The episode is the 16th of season two. Fans soon took the idea off the screen, and card shops and restaurants now sell Galentine's cards, brunch deals and gift boxes. Most groups keep it low-key: a brunch, a wine night, or small gifts and cards swapped between friends.
