Paid every other Friday? Your paydays depend on which of the two weeks you are on. If your first check of 2026 came on January 2, 5 paydays are left in 2026: Oct 23, Nov 6, Nov 20, Dec 4 and Dec 18. In 2027 that schedule pays 27 times, with three checks in January, July and December.
On the other week, with the first payday on January 9, 5 paydays are left in 2026: Oct 30, Nov 13, Nov 27, Dec 11 and Dec 25. In 2027 that schedule pays 26 times, with three checks in April and October.
One of those Fridays is Christmas Day, Dec 25. When a payday falls on a federal holiday, most employers pay on the business day before. The 2027 pay calendar has every date for next year, and paydays until Christmas counts the checks before the holidays.
Friday the 13th turns up twice in the next 12 months: November 13, 2026 and August 13, 2027.
How to count Fridays by hand
Find the first Friday after today and the day before the holiday. Count the days from one to the other, divide by 7, ignore the remainder, then add 1.
Take Thanksgiving. The first Friday is Oct 23 and the day before Thanksgiving is Nov 25, 33 days later. 33 ÷ 7 = 4 remainder 5, and 4 + 1 = 5, the number in the table.
With a paper calendar you can just run a finger down the Friday column. Next year the answer can change, because a date moves one weekday later each year, or two after a February 29.

Is the holiday itself counted?
No. Counting stops on the day before, so when the holiday is itself a Friday, as Christmas is this time, that day is left out.
