Watching the full moon
Five of this year's full moons fall on a Friday or Saturday night, when it is easiest to stay up late. A full moon is one exact moment, but the Moon looks round to the eye for about a day before and after. The moon phases 2027 page adds every new moon and quarter moon.
Moon names in 2027
The names are the traditional ones listed by the Old Farmer's Almanac, one for each month. Two depend on the season instead. The Harvest Moon is the full moon nearest the September equinox, which falls on Thursday, September 23, 2027. In 2027 that is the full moon on Wednesday, September 15, 2027, 8 days before the equinox. The Hunter's Moon follows on Friday, October 15, 2027.
No month has two full moons in 2027, so there is no monthly Blue Moon this year.
