Why the weekday changes
A common year is 365 days, one day more than 52 weeks. So May 2 moves on one weekday each year: Saturday in 2026, Sunday in 2027. The jump is two days when February 29 comes in between, so May 2, 2028 is a Tuesday, two on from 2027's Sunday. Between 1901 and 2099, the whole pattern repeats every 28 years.
