About Children's Day (India)
In a lot of Indian schools, November 14 is the one day the teachers do the performing. Staff put on skits and songs for their pupils, little ones turn up to fancy-dress contests as Nehru in a white cap with a rose pinned to the jacket, and classes often get sweets, games or a picnic instead of lessons.
The rose is Nehru's own touch. He wore one in his buttonhole most days, and children knew him as Chacha Nehru, Uncle Nehru.
