How Many Days Until World Water Day 2027?

When is World Water Day 2027?

World Water Day 2027 is on Monday, March 22, 2027. March 22 never moves, but the weekday does. In 2028 it is on Wednesday, March 22, 2028. The idea came out of the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, and the first one was held on March 22, 1993. It's about fresh water: rivers, groundwater, and the people who still have no safe tap or toilet near home. Schools and charities run sponsored walks to show how far some people carry water each day.

Date rule: UN General Assembly resolution 47/193.

How this is calculated

Each midnight takes one off the number. Today is left out and the day itself is counted, so tomorrow shows as 1 day away. Clock changes for daylight saving make no difference.

In Excel or Google Sheets, type =DATE(2027,3,22)-TODAY() into a cell to get the same count; add 1 to include today.

Counted from Friday, October 16, 2026 (US Eastern time). When you open the page, it counts again from the date on your device, so it matches your own day.
