1 Hour Timer
1:00:00
Ready: one hour.
Press Start for one hour. That is the full game clock of an NFL or NHL game, and about how long most bread dough needs to rise.
What a 1 hour timer is good for
Sport runs on it. An NFL game has 60 minutes of game clock in four 15-minute quarters, and an NHL game has three 20-minute periods. With stoppages, both take far longer than an hour in real life.
At home, plenty of bread recipes say to let the dough rise for about an hour, until doubled. An hour also suits a block of deep work with the phone in another room, a timed past paper, or a cap on screen time.
Good to know
Dough rises faster in a warm kitchen and slower in a cold one, so 'about an hour' is a guide. At the beep, press a floured finger in; if the dent springs back slowly, it is ready.
