30 Minute Timer
30:00
Ready: thirty minutes.
Press Start for 30 minutes: half an hour, or one day's share of the 150 active minutes a week that US guidelines ask for.
What a 30 minute timer is good for
Exercise first. US guidelines call for at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, which is 30 minutes on five days. A brisk walk, a bike ride or a video workout all fit, and the timer stops you guessing.
Thirty minutes is also the standard unpaid lunch in many jobs; California requires a 30-minute meal period on most shifts over five hours. Plenty of casseroles, cakes and simmered sauces cook for about this long, and it is a good length for one revision topic.
Good to know
At an easy 3 miles an hour, half an hour covers about 1.5 miles. A brisk 4 mph walk gets you 2 miles, which is roughly 4,000 steps for many adults.
