1 Minute Timer

Ready: one minute.

Press Start for one minute. Sixty seconds is the length of most quick typing tests and a solid plank hold.

What a 1 minute timer is good for

Many typing tests last one minute, so this lets you check your words per minute with any text you like: type, stop at the beep, count. A one-minute plank is a common target, and sixty seconds is a typical rest between sets in the gym.

Speaking practice, too. On the BBC radio game Just a Minute, players must talk for 60 seconds without hesitation, repetition or deviation. Teachers borrow the idea for quick talks in class, and party games in the Minute to Win It style use the same clock.

Good to know

Most typing tests count five characters, spaces included, as one word. So if you typed 210 characters by the beep, that is 42 words per minute.
