15 Minute Timer
15:00
Ready: fifteen minutes.
Press Start for 15 minutes, the length of one NFL quarter on the game clock and the longest half-time break soccer's rules allow.
What a 15 minute timer is good for
An NFL quarter is 15 minutes of game clock, though it takes far longer in real life. Soccer's half-time break is capped at 15 minutes by the Laws of the Game, so coaches use a 15-minute timer to get the team back out on time.
In the Pomodoro method, 15 minutes is the short end of the long break after four work blocks. Around the house it covers one room of tidying, a roast resting before carving, or homework with a snack waiting at the end.
Good to know
Many time clocks round punches to the nearest 15 minutes. Under that rule 8:07 counts as 8:00, and 8:08 counts as 8:15, so the quarter hour matters on a payslip too.

Timer questions
Is 15 minutes a quarter of an hour?
Yes. Sixty minutes divided by four is 15, so it is 0.25 hours. Many payroll systems round punch times to the nearest quarter hour for the same reason.
